Trauma Surgery and Sports Medicine
Orthopedic Trauma and Fracture Care
Fractures and acute musculoskeletal injuries don’t follow a schedule. They can happen to anyone, at any age, in any situation. Whether the injury occurred in a car accident, a fall, a workplace incident, or during athletic activity, accurate evaluation and timely treatment are essential to achieving the best possible outcome. Dr. Hobson is trained to manage a wide spectrum of extremity fractures and traumatic injuries, from straightforward breaks treated with casting and close follow-up to complex fractures requiring surgical stabilization.
Dr. Hobson completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Utah, where comprehensive orthopedic trauma exposure is central to training, and his sports medicine fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. His experience working for the Cleveland Browns (NFL), the New Jersey Generals (USFL), Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL), and the Cleveland Monsters (AHL) also gave him extensive firsthand experience managing acute traumatic injuries in high-demand athletic populations.
Timely, Decisive Care for Acute Injuries
The goal in orthopedic trauma care is to restore alignment, stability, and function as efficiently as possible, and to do it in a way that supports long-term recovery rather than just short-term fixation. Dr. Hobson evaluates each injury on its own terms: the location and pattern of the injury, the surrounding soft tissue, the patient’s age and activity level, and the demands they need to return to. Many injuries can be managed non-operatively with immobilization and carefully monitored healing. Others require surgery to achieve stable alignment and allow early rehabilitation.
