Advanced Knee Care for Athletes and Active Adults

From ACL tears in competitive athletes to meniscus injuries, patellar instability, and early cartilage wear, knee pain affects patients of every age and activity level. As a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon serving Tarzana, California, Dr. Hobson builds a treatment plan around your specific injury, your sport, and your goals for getting back to the activities you love.

Dr. Hobson trained at some of the top orthopedic programs in the country, including residency at the University of Utah Hospital and a sports medicine fellowship at Case Western Reserve University. His published research in the American Journal of Sports Medicine and the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery focuses on patellofemoral instability, ACL reconstruction, cartilage preservation, and outcomes after hip arthroscopy. He has also served as assistant team physician for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Monsters, and USFL teams, and currently covers athletes at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks.

A Treatment Plan Built Around You

Not every knee injury needs surgery. Many respond well to a structured rehabilitation program, targeted injections, bracing, and activity modification. When surgery is the right answer, Dr. Hobson emphasizes joint-preserving procedures that address the injury precisely while leaving healthy tissue intact. For younger, active patients he prioritizes meniscus repair over meniscus removal, cartilage restoration over excision, and procedures that give the knee the best possible long-term function.

If you are a parent wondering why your teenager’s knee keeps dislocating, a runner with a meniscus tear, or a skier with an ACL injury heading into a reconstruction decision, Dr. Hobson will take the time to explain what is happening and what each option looks like for your recovery.
